This is a book about general management: the work of the chief executive officer (CEO) and their inherent sphere of responsibility. In this role, the CEO is the strategist, who sets the long-term direction of the organization and the goals to be achieved; the leader, who inspires and organizes the people in pursuit of these goals; and the politician, who harmonizes the interests of the different stakeholders to ensure long-term continuity and development. In light of these important roles, CEOs are arguably the most influential members of any organization. They not only influence the way that employees carry out their professional lives but also safeguard and shape the values the company embraces as a community.
